That Darn Leprechaun

So it's St. Patrick's eve, if you will. And every St. Patrick's Day, that crazy little Leprechaun turns all of our toilets green. Sophie says he doesn't pee all year long and waits to go at our house. She also thinks he is about the size of a Bitty Baby. (cute huh?) Well, tonight we heard some noises upstairs, way past the girls bed time. I found them in their bathroom and of course was not happy. I demanded to know just what they were doing. They sheepishly replied "But Mommy, we just wanted to try and catch the Leprechaun!!". :)

Picture Day

It's picture day and we all know how those usually turn out. So I thought I would take my own this morning before Sophie left. She looks so grown up and beautiful. I just love her!

Soccer Season Begins!

Macy is finally old enough to play soccer. She is sooo excited. It is so fun for her to be part of a team. Her favorite part is that Daddy is her coach. Joe is so good with these cute girls. They play 3 on 3 and have teams of 4. It is amazing how tired they each get after two minutes of running and fighting for that ball. The girls on her team are so cute and so different. Game day showed us a different side to each of them and it was hilarious. Maddy will fall into the group and come away with the ball and then fall again. Her fear of soccer was falling and we think she has that one conquered. Shelby will take you down. She was grabbing ahold of these girls like it was touch football and then run away in tears because she didn't score a goal. Ashley is hilarious. She can kick that ball hard and then sit down right on the field because she is "so tired". Then there is Macy who can tackle her sister to the ground and hold her own with the neighbor kids, but she was soooo timid on the field. Who knew? She would let everyone run ahead and then run right on their tails with an aggressive appearing face and her arms all up in a running pose, but too afraid to get in there and get that ball. Oh well, the main thing is that she had so much fun. And the treat afterwards was, of course, the highlight for all of the girls. Way to go Ducks!

White Like An Old Lady

We have started contemplating getting a dog. Mainly because of our girls. They really really want a dog. They will randomly start discussing what we will name our dog, what we will feed our dog, what our dog will look like as if we are running out this weekend to get one. I can't tell you how many times we have been to the pet store to pet some dogs so that we can satisfy my Macy. She is a true dog lover. (And, in case you were wondering, I would NEVER buy a dog from a pet store.) Sophie woke up the other morning and first thing began to tell me that she wants to name her dog Alice. Then Macy started to cry because she doesn't want that name and then they began to talk about two dogs and each naming their own. They often talk about how wonderful it will be to have a buddy of their very own.

Hey, let's be honest here, they will be my buddies. The one who feeds, walks, cleans up their poop vacuum up the hair, takes them to the vet.....uuhhmmm am I really ready for this? So Macy is coloring away her "Picky-Pie Pony" coloring book. (Really it is My Little Pony, but she thinks it is Honey Pie Pony from Strawberry Shortcake and has always called it Picky Pie Pony. And I just love it.) So, as Macy is coloring away, she says to me, "Mommy, I do not want to get an old dog like our kitty. She is old. And I do not like old." Then I ask, "Why not old? What is bad about old?" She says, "You know like our kitty that is white with black spots, the white is old..like an old lady. I do not want that." :) Gotta love her.

Lawrence Safety Day

We had so much fun at Safety Day this year. They hold it at the Fire Station right near our house. In years past it has been sooo hot, but this year we had to pull out the sweatshirts. Macy got to use a real fire hose and put out the "fire".

We saw live demonstrations on how police k-9's hunt down bad guys and watched them find drugs planted in vehicles. We watched a rescue from a burning building using the ladder truck. We had the girls finger-printed and made child ID cards. They also had snow cones and popcorn. All of it is free! I love free. :)
We even ran into the Chick-Fil-A cow. Macy's camera smile is almost freaky.
And finally, after a 30 minute wait in line, the girls had their faces painted. Sophie wanted a butterfly and Macy wanted a dog..Dalmatian to be exact. But oh were there tears last night when it was bath time. I love these cuties!

GNO

G--girls N--night-O--out. Enough said. Once a month this little night comes along at just the right time and I LOVE it. We are mostly all from different areas of the city (therefore mostly different wards), different callings, different ages, at different stages of mothering and it is perfect. We relax, eat, laugh, teach, listen, share, encourage, celebrate, laugh some more, eat some more ("I'll have my cheesecake now please.") And definitely love one another. Here's to you my GNO girls! (BTW-we each really dislike this name but can't think of anything else.;) See you next month!

Tamale Making Party

This picture was suppose to be at the end but I accidentally deleted it. Blogger frustrates me so much because you cannot cut and paste pictures!!! Does anyone else know how to do that???

Our dear friends the Chapital family, had a tamale making party in August. Antonio is from Mexico and he and Kim taught us how to make yummy tamales and pica de gallo. They had several Young Women from our ward come and babysit all of the kids while we helped put many many tamales together. They had a lot of dress-up clothes and my girls went crazy. Sophie is of course in a wig..:) and very lady-like. As for Macy.........

Yeah. That's my Macy. :) Several people who came late thought she was a boy. :) She cracks me up.
They had two (very smart!) pinatas so that every kids could hack away at it. Antonio taught them all this song that you are suppose to sing when you hit it but i can't remember it. Something that sounds like dolly, dolly, dolly. Anyone know what i am talking about? It was so fun.

The young women had each kid color their own paper sack that they could use to gather all of the yummy Mexican candy. Here Antonio is teaching them the song.
